A 23-year-old driver recently died after crashing his BMW while speeding in Brooklyn. According to a witness, the man was going 70 or 80 miles an hour, when he hit a dip in the road and his car buckled and spun out of control. The car hit anything in its path, including a van it crushed that was parked on the street. This type of accident is unfortunately not that uncommon in Brooklyn or the Bronx.
A recent study revealed that an astonishing 88% of Brooklyn drivers regularly ignore the city’s 30-mph posted speed limit and a third of those do so in excess of 10-mph over the posted limit. As a result, Kings and Bronx County traffic conditions led to the highest fatality numbers in the city, and traffic related injuries account for 13% of total injuries within the entire Empire State.
